ABOUT THE SESSIONS
Each block takes inspiration from a variety of artists and mediums. They are as varied as possible enabling the children to explore different ways of working from painting, to sculpture, to collage and more.

DURING THE SESSIONS
Over the next few weeks we'll be going round the world! Each week we'll have fun exploring a different country, inspired by a local artist across a variety of mediums! We'll have a giant map to colour-in and highlight the countries we've been to.
12/01 - Masks Around The World
We're kicking off this block creating papier mâché masks inspired by mask traditions from cultures around the world, exploring shape, texture, and expression! We'll make it this week and paint at the beginning of next weeks session or you can take it home to decorate.
19/01 - Japan: Hokusai’s Dreamy Waves
We'll roll out big sheets of paper and paint dynamic ocean scenes inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai, exploring movement, line, and nature!
26/01 - Poland: Playful Poster Design
This week we'll explore a favourite art form of mine, graphic design! We'll take inspo from Polish School of Posters and their bold colours and simple shapes to make our very own poster design, using pens, paint or collage. Have a think about your theme for the poster, it could promote a song, film, festival or event.
02/02 - Peru: Andean Colour Pop Wall Hangings
We'll have fun exploring Andean textile patterns from Peru to create bright, colourful wall hangings inspired by traditional weaving, using lollypop sticks and wool.
09/02 - Valentine’s Special: Global Folk Art Hearts
We'll finish the block creating special patterned heart artwork inspired by folk art from around the world to take home to give to someone special.
This gives us loose themes to work towards each week but anything goes, the sessions are very informal and child led.
