ABOUT THE SESSIONS
Each block takes inspiration from a variety of artists and mediums. They are as varied as possible enabling the children to explore different ways of working from painting, to sculpture, to collage and more!
DURING THE SESSIONS
We are continuing our round the world theme, including Mother’s Day and Easter! Each week we'll have fun exploring a different country, inspired by a local artist across a variety of mediums.
23/02 - Brazil: Dreamy Self Portraits
We'll kick off the block rolling out big sheets of paper and painting playful self portraits using simplified shapes and bold colours, inspired by Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral
02/03 - Around the world: Magical Book Boxes
Get ready to design and decorate a secret 3D book-shaped box inspired by illustrated book covers from around the world, creating a magical keepsake to hide your treasures in!
09/03 - Australia: Aboriginal Pattern painting
We'll get the table easels and cotton buds out this week, creating dot-painted artwork inspired by Aboriginal Australian art, exploring pattern, nature, and storytelling through paint.
16/03 - USA: Woven Blooms
Weaving, wool, and colour! We'll create joyful flower artworks inspired by textile artist Sheila Hicks to take home for (belated!) Mother’s Day.
23/03 - Marbling Easter eggs
Get ready for a messy one! We'll finish the block celebrating Easter, creating colourful hanging Easter eggs using a marbling technique, where we mix the colours to pour over the eggs or have fun dipping them in!
